Today, President Duterte has officially signed the Philippine Identification System Act (PhilSys) after it was approved in the Congress in May this year. According to Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) chief Adelino Sitoy, the PhilSys will simplify public and private transactions and will be of great help to prevent fraudulent transactions. For Filipinos living abroad, the registration will be done in the nearest Philippines Embassy or Philippine Foreign Service post or any other registration centers that is designated by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), together with Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), will be campaigning PhilSys to all citizens and resident aliens within three months from the effectivity of this act.
