Google has started rolling out offline support for Google Maps on Wear OS, as announced alongside the Pixel Watch 3. This new feature allows users to access maps on their smartwatch even when they don’t have an internet connection. After updating the app, users will find that offline maps from their phone are automatically downloaded to their watch. The watch app not only downloads a map for your current area but also syncs any offline maps you’ve already saved on your phone. The sync happens automatically when the watch is connected to Wi-Fi and charging. This feature is currently available in version 11.140.0701.W of Google Maps for Wear OS on the Pixel Watch 2, and it’s also accessible to those enrolled in the public Google Maps beta. Is it a game-changer for smartwatch users, or do you think it could be improved further? I might have even said that next year could be the year of smartphone cameras as I really like the idea of HTC's UltraPixel, Nokia's PureView and Sony's Exmor RS -- they focus on quality/technology over just plain megapixel count (Google's next Nexus phone is rumored to have a great camera as well).
