Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) went offline for nearly 24 hours, marking its first major outage of the year. Sony confirmed the restoration via its Japanese and US PlayStation accounts, with all services now listed as operational on the PSN Service Status page. Many have taken to social media to demand compensation, especially since the downtime occurred on a weekend. PlayStation 5 players effectively lost a full day of the event. Sony has announced that it will gradually shut down the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PlayStation Vita (PS Vita). Sony has announced in their blog post that they are shutting down the PlayStation Store for the PS Vita and PS3. The rollout will begin in August 2026 when the PS3 PlayStation Store closes in Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In all remaining countries, the PlayStation Store for both the PS3 and PS Vita will close in July 2027.
