PLDT has announced that it will expand the reach of its fiber-powered fixed line network or its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service by about 80% to 4.4 million homes passed by the end of 2017. PLDT's fiber network covered 2.5 million homes in the country as of late last year. “We are stepping up our efforts to deliver unrivaled internet services to more homes in various parts of the country, from the Ilocos provinces in the North to Zamboanga in the South,” said PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. During the Smart LTE launch yesterday, I talked to one PLDT/Smart exec and he told me that the LTE sites must be supported by fiber on the ground in order for it to work. He then offered to set me up on a test 100Mbps Fiber-to-Home connection. PLDT has started offering faster home internet with speeds of up to 300 Mbps under its PLDT Home Fiber Prepaid service. PLDT Home has launched its 2026 Broadband Free Forever (BFF) Promo, giving new Fiber subscribers a chance to have their monthly service fees waived through a raffle. The offer is open to new subscribers of select Fiber Unli, Fiber Unli All, Fiber Netflix, and Home Biz plans within the promo period.
