With the partnership with Google, Qualcomm will now support four Android OS versions and four years of security updates across Snapdragon platforms using the Project Treble enhancements, to start with the new Snapdragon 888 Mobile Platform. “We are excited to work with Google to extend our support for Android OS and security updates on future Snapdragon mobile platforms utilizing the Project Treble enhancements,” Vice President Product Management of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., Kedar Kondap mentioned. Google wants to solve it with Project Treble on Android O. With Project Treble, Google re-architects the Android OS to make it easier, faster and less costly for manufacturers to update devices to a new version. Project Treble will be coming to all new devices launched with Android O and beyond. In fact, the new Project Treble architecture is already running on the Developer Preview of O for Pixel phones.
