The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite has been announced as the company’s next flagship chipset ahead of the 2025 Snapdragon Summit. Instead of following the vein of an ‘Elite Gen 2’ label, Qualcomm explained how the Snapdragon 8 Elite was the fourth-gen iteration via Weibo. Here’s the flagship chips in order—Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4), Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Branding-wise, it’s highly possible that the chip will be touted as ‘Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy’. On board, it uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, and OnePlus says it brings noticeable speed gains over the last generation.
