Qualcomm unveiled a new 8-core Snapdragon X Plus processor at IFA 2024 in Berlin. The new processor has the same architecture as the 12-core Snapdragon X Elite and 10-core Snapdragon X Plus. The 8-core Snapdragon X Plus offers less CPU cache and less than half the GPU power for gaming and productivity apps. Oddly enough, it offers the same productivity performance as the 10-core Snapdragon X Plus processors. Overall, the new Snapdragon X Plus option is key to driving down laptop prices further. These brands have produced laptops and the like all powered by the Snapdragon X chip courtesy of Qualcomm. Likewise, the Microsoft Surface Laptop is powered by either the Snapdragon X Elite or the Snapdragon X Plus. The former is equipped with the Snapdragon X Plus chip, while the latter comes with the Snapdragon X Elite chip.
