Google has rolled out RCS messaging, the company's successor to SMS, to all Android users in the US. RCS (Rich Communication Services) is now set to be Google's default texting platform, integrated within the Google Messages app. Comparable to Apple's iMessage app, Google's RCS messaging is capable of sending high-res photos, large files, enable group chats, make video calls, supports read receipts, and has a typing indicator. To use RCS, a user first needs to have Google Messages as their default texting app. At the moment, it is unknown if Google will roll out RCS to other territories.
