PLDT's partnership with Roku is now bearing fruit as the telco has announced the availability of its latest TVolution streaming box. The new TVolution streaming box, which seems like a modified Roku 2, will come with over 50 streaming channels including popular services such as Cignal, iflix, Netflix, and YouTube. The Roku Powered TVolution box and service will be available to all PLDT HOME Fibr, DSL, and Ultera customers starting May 2017 for an additional monthly service fee of Php299. The Philippines remains among the slowest countries in transitioning away from 3G networks, with most mobile users still relying on older devices that do not support newer voice technologies. Compared to neighboring countries, the Philippines trails behind Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand in VoLTE adoption. GSMA Intelligence estimates VoLTE penetration in the Philippines could rise to 43.2% this year. PLDT’s extensive nationwide network infrastructure allows more households across the Philippines to access fiber prepaid services.
