Samsung and AMD have just announced a multi-year partnership to bring AMD's Radeon graphics IP to mobile. AMD Radeon graphics are currently being used in desktop, laptops, and gaming consoles such as the PS4 and Xbox One. In turn, Samsung will pay AMD license fees and royalties to access the RDNA graphics architecture and use it in mobile devices, smartphones, and other products that the AMD platform is used on. Lisa Su stated: “Adoption of our Radeon graphics technologies across the PC, game console, cloud and HPC markets has grown significantly and we are thrilled to now partner with industry leader Samsung to accelerate graphics innovation in the mobile market. This strategic partnership will extend the reach of our high-performance Radeon graphics into the mobile market, significantly expanding the Radeon user base and development ecosystem." Samsung has also stated that they are looking forward to developing technologies together with AMD. AMD has officially unveiled the Radeon RX 9050, expanding its Radeon RX 9000 desktop graphics card lineup with a new entry-level RDNA-based GPU aimed at 1080p gaming. AMD also published its own gaming benchmarks for the Radeon RX 9050 at 1080p using medium settings. Compared to the Radeon RX 9060, the RX 9050 has fewer Compute Units and Stream Processors, positioning it as the entry-level model in AMD's Radeon RX 9000 desktop GPU family.
