We reported before that Samsung is bringing the Google Nexus S in the Philippines last March. The bare Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) UI is pretty standard (IMO, it looks better than the TouchWiz 3.0 UI) and reminded me of the Nexus One. It is Samsung’s thinnest Flip yet, and its compact form factor still feels like the biggest reason to own one, because it is simply easier to carry and easier to use one-handed than a lot of larger phones. It is also the one that probably best represents Samsung’s current idea of what a premium phone should be: powerful hardware, practical AI tools, and features that go beyond just spec-sheet bragging rights. Without the iPhone, we would not have seen the likes of Samsung Instinct, Omnia i900, HTC Touch Diamond, LG Dare and Sony-Ericsson Xperia this early. I had 4 most likely candidates as a great iPhone alternative -- the HTC Touch Diamond, Nokia N96, Samsung i900 Omnia and the Sony-Ericsson Xperia.
