#SIM registration emergency alert

Subscribers of Globe Telecom took to Twitter their frustration over today’s emergency alert, but the prompt wasn’t about any disaster… it was for SIM registration. He emphasized that emergency alerts were meant for real emergencies, and that SIM registration barely counts as one. The emergency alert was meant for emergencies. I don't think sim registration counts as an emergency. pic.twitter.com/Id342oEYzC — Ralph Carmen (@rbcarmen) April 23, 2023 Globe has previously called for an extension for SIM registration, but the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reiterated that there will be no extension beyond the April 26 deadline. However, as per the IRR of the SIM Registration Act, those unregistered SIMs past the deadline can be reactivated within five days of automatic deactivation once registered. As reported by Inquirer.net, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) announced that it would review proposals to improve the SIM Registration Act, including a requirement for SIM card owners to be physically present during registration.
