Globe will be opening assisted SIM registration in over 30 Puregold branches across the country, to cover as many Globe SIM users before the April 26, 2023 deadline. The assisted SIM registration will be from January 27 to 29, 2023. Globe reminds registrants that they should be ready with the following information to complete the SIM registration process: Full name Date of birth Sex Address Government ID with photo Mobile number Earlier this week, Globe had also put up physical booths in 15 areas for SIM Registration, to aid in the registration process. The online registration system has faced criticism for being exploited by fraudsters who sell preregistered SIM cards to facilitate scams. The NTC has already directed telecom companies to improve their registration processes and better validate SIM cards. In addition, the commission has proposed new rules to regulate SIM ownership and limit the number of valid government-issued IDs used for registration.
