#Sony PlayStation 5 event

Sony announces its upcoming PlayStation 5 event that will showcase the upcoming games on the brand's next-generation gaming console. Dubbed as PlayStation 5 Showcase, the event aims to take fans and give them a sneak peek on the upcoming games that will simultaneously roll out on the same day of the PlayStation 5's launch. Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that all new PlayStation games released from January 2028 onward will be available only in digital format, ending the production of physical disc editions for future titles. Despite ending disc production for future releases, Sony said players will still be able to purchase new games through the PlayStation Store or participating retailers that sell digital game codes. Sony has announced that it will gradually shut down the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PlayStation Vita (PS Vita). Sony has announced in their blog post that they are shutting down the PlayStation Store for the PS Vita and PS3. According to Sony, the closure is necessary due to the PS3 and PS Vita platforms can no longer support the modern payment processing and commerce systems used by the PlayStation Store. Sony has announced that it will stop releasing new PlayStation games on physical discs starting January 2028, marking a major shift in how future titles will be sold on the platform.
