According to committee chair Miro Quimbo, the policy no longer reflects current travel patterns, as international travel has become more accessible to middle-class Filipinos and younger travelers. Lawmakers also noted that the Philippines is the only country in Southeast Asia that continues to impose a travel tax on outbound passengers, raising questions about its impact on the country’s competitiveness as a regional travel hub. HONOR Philippines won 24 awards at the HONOR Southeast Asia Summit 2026, recognizing its performance, growth, and impact in the region. The event gathered leaders and partners from across Southeast Asia to review progress and honor top-performing markets. The awards were presented by George Zheng, CEO of HONOR Southeast Asia. Infinix and MOONTON Games have expanded their partnership to support Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports tournaments across Southeast Asia, bringing more events and community programs to the region. According to MLBB Esports, the partnership will help provide consistent gaming equipment and support for players competing in mobile esports events across Southeast Asia. While the US remains TikTok Shop’s top market, Southeast Asia has emerged as its fastest-growing region, led by Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
