Senator Manny Pacquiao has just asked SpaceX, a US-based space exploration company to build a launchpad On Mindanao Island. The senator met with executives from SpaceX in order to find solutions for cheaper internet in the country as well as build a space launchpad in the country. He says that the launchpad would help the country in communications, weather monitoring, topography mapping, environment protection and research. “The involvement of SpaceX in our country will not only bring in investments and jobs but will also put us at the forefront of space science,” Mr. Senator Koko Pimentel III, echoed the sentiments of Senator Pacquiao and said that Mindanao is an ideal location for a spaceship launchpad as it is near the equator. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reported a significant decline in courier-related complaints, with cases dropping by nearly 88% following the rollout of its Oplan Bantay Padala initiative.
