IBM has unveiled the details of the upcoming IBM Telum Processor. Telum is IBM’s first processor that contains on-chip acceleration for AI inference while a transaction is taking place. The Telum Processor was in development for three years and aims to provide business insights at scale across banking, finance, training, insurance, and customer interactions, including preventing fraud in real-time. The completely redesigned cache and chip-interconnection infrastructure provides 32MB cache per core and can scale to 32 Telum chips. Qualcomm will raise the prices of its processors starting September 1, 2026, a move that could increase production costs for Android smartphone makers and lead to higher device prices. Qualcomm has already increased the cost of some premium Snapdragon processors in recent years. Phone makers may respond by raising retail prices, using older processors, changing other components, or absorbing part of the additional cost. The Radeon RX 9050 features 16 Compute Units, 1,024 Stream Processors, 16 Ray Accelerators, and 32 AI Accelerators.
