The Long Dark is now free on the Epic Games Store for a limited time. Developed by Hinterland Studio Inc., The Long Dark is a  single-player, exploration-survival game that allows players to explore the expansive frozen wilderness in the aftermath of a geomagnetic disaster. Acquiring The Long Dark entitles players to access all five episodes of Wintermute, as well as the free updates to the Survival Mode. The Long Dark is currently free until December 21, 2020, at 12 AM on the Epic Games Store. It's called the Balong 5G01, and the company touts it to be compliant with the new 5G standards set by 3GPP. The console was released in both standard and digital-only variants, signaling the company's long-term push away from physical media. However, the move is expected to raise concerns among collectors and players who still prefer physical copies, including those who rely on the second-hand market or value long-term game preservation. The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has confirmed that GoreBox is no longer accessible through the Google Play Store and Steam in the Philippines after both platforms complied with the government's request to restrict the game nationwide.
