Tumblr says it is working to restore access for users in the Philippines. In a post on its official blog, Tumblr said the Philippine government has now moved to restore access after numerous users have reported the issue. According to the company, access for users in the Philippines should return soon if it has not already been restored. It stated that Tumblr was "not licensed by Philippine authorities." The message also included links to gambling websites approved by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR). The incident caused confusion among local users since Tumblr is primarily known as a blogging and social media platform and not related to online gambling services. The Philippines remains among the slowest countries in transitioning away from 3G networks, with most mobile users still relying on older devices that do not support newer voice technologies. Compared to neighboring countries, the Philippines trails behind Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand in VoLTE adoption. GSMA Intelligence estimates VoLTE penetration in the Philippines could rise to 43.2% this year.
