#uber 190 million fine

Just this afternoon, Uber paid its P190 million penalty to LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board). They also ordered Uber to pay an additional P19.9 million daily to its partner-drivers. The LTFRB explained that the P190 million fine was based on the "remaining 19 days of the suspension order multiplied by Uber's average daily income of P10 million". Penalties lead up to 12 years in prison and fines ranging from PHP 500,000 to PHP 2 million for anyone “knowingly and maliciously” spreading false information across broadcast, print, or online platforms. Reuters has reported that Meta has been fined KRW 21.6 billion (~$15 million) by South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission.
