Vodafone, a telecommunications company based in London, has expressed its interest in venturing as the third telco player in the Philippines. Budget and Management Secretary Benjamin Diokno said that the dialogue between the Philippine economics team and the Vodafone executives happened during their trip to London last week. Vodafone expressed its interest in applying as the third telco player and has been conducting its due diligence since February this year. Diokno also said that Vodafone may still enter the country even if a third telco player has already been identified. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is set to conduct an invitation bid on October 7.
