Microsoft officially ends support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, marking the end of an era for one of the most widely used versions of Windows. Starting October 14, 2025, users will no longer receive free security updates, technical assistance, or feature enhancements for Windows 10. Launched in 2015, Windows 10 became a staple for both personal and enterprise users, with nearly 40% of global Windows users still relying on it as of early 2025. Microsoft is urging users to upgrade to Windows 11 for improved security and performance. Experts warn that continued use of Windows 10 without updates could expose users to increased risks of malware and cyberattacks. Sorry Microsoft fans, it seems the next Windows 12 operating system isn’t coming anytime soon. Instead, Microsoft has confirmed that there will be a new major feature update scheduled to arrive this 2024 called Windows 11 24H2, shutting down the rumors of a possible Windows 12 release this year. Microsoft says Windows 11 24H2 will arrive sometime in the latter half of 2024, as the name of the update suggests.
