Massive displays have been the rage in recent years, and Lenovo is no stranger to that. We were able to get our hands on one of their latest monitors, the Legion Y44w, a curved monitor that’s colossal in size. Check it out!
Measuring at 43.4-inches and with a curvature of 1800R, the Lenovo Legion Y44w is quite a hefty and lengthy monitor. It’s pretty much equal to two 24-inch monitors, making it ideal for those who work with a main and a secondary monitor. The monitor offers an aspect ratio of 32:10, with a slim top and side bezels. Due to its obviously massive size, it would need at least two people to carry it to transfer it to places or tables. Trust, it’s honestly impossible to carry this one with your own two arms.
The bottom bezel is slightly wider in size than the top and sides, with the Lenovo logo emblazoned on the center.
Underneath the Lenovo logo, there’s a push hub that hides two USB 3.0 ports and a 3.5mm audio jack.
On the right side of the bottom bezel, one can find the power and the control buttons for the monitor. There’s the menu button that also acts as the return key; pressing on it will pull up a host of settings such as display settings, advanced settings, picture-in-picture display settings, and the gaming settings.
Beside it are dedicated keys for the brightness levels that also serve as the up and down button respectively. If you’re not keen on using the menu button and navigating around, there’s also a dedicated button for the picture-in-picture display settings and gaming settings.
The monitor’s rear has a textured matte finish, with the Legion logo imprinted on the side.
As for I/O, the Legion Y44w has a host of connectivity options located on the bottom rear. There are two HDMI ports, a DP1.4 port, one USB-C Gen 1, one USB-C Gen 2, and four USB 3.0 ports.
A monitor USB speaker powered by Sound by Harman-Kardon comes with the Legion Y44w. It’s detachable and can be displayed anywhere, but Lenovo meant for the speaker to slot in with the stand and sit just right below the massive monitor. The speaker lights up with RGB colors as it’s switched on.
The Lenovo Legion Y44w comes with a refresh rate of 144HZ and AMD FreeSync 2 technology, paired with a VESA certified DisplayHDR 400. We played Overwatch on it, and the experience is intense and incredibly immersive, all thanks to the monitor’s size and curvature.
Color reproduction is bright, vibrant, and definite eye candy. Do be careful though to not sit with your face too close to it, otherwise, you’ll risk eye fatigue and maybe even get dizzy or end up with a headache.
Since the Legion Y44w is basically two monitors put together, it’s also ideal to use it as a work monitor. You can definitely put windows side by side and have enough space for each of them, lessening the need of having two separate monitors and switching from one to the other. The Legion Y44w is quite impressive, given its size and the immersive experience that it gives. My only issue here is that if you’re not quite used to have such a massive screen, it’ll wear you out pretty quick. Still, it’s basically a two-in-one-display, optimal for both work and gaming. The Lenovo Legion Y44w is priced at PHP 59,995USD 1,022INR 86,669EUR 974CNY 7,445.
