I was sent an interview (about blogging) over email a couple of days ago. One question asked me to compare mainstream media and blogging and how it affects our surfing behavior. I thought the follow-up question was more intruiging than the first. Then I realized that I myself (as a blogger) have undergone thru the changes in surfing behavior as well.
Before, whenever I wanted to go online and read anything about current events, I go and visit news sites like Inq7.net or ManilaBulletin. I go straight to the Infotech section and read up some locally relevant tech updates. In the last couple of months though, I haven’t been reading a lot from Inq7.net nor spending much time on the site. I used to visit them first; now they’re at end of my reading list.
About 90% of my surfing-reading time are spent on blogs and rss feeds (of more blogs). A huge chunk of that are from local tech bloggers whom I regularly visit almost every day. News are bland and objective, blogs are more tangy and sometimes even spicy. Makes you want to gobble up some more.
Nowadays, blogs catch the news first and spread them faster.

And here we are again to discuss the fast evolution of blog. At first, spreading news was not the main purpose of a Weblog. And as years go by, blog has developed a better way of influencing a reader. Or say that bloggers made that way. And this time, more blogs and bloggers have a better way of informing the readers than a real journalist. Well, news has a different medium back then. But as it evolves, it inherits the netway so. And as you have said, most articles and news online were prioritized next to “lists of Links on the sidebar”.

As you know, there’s an agreement to create an umbrella organization uniting all the forces against GMA. it’s called “bukluran para sa katotohanan.” we’d like to get the blogosphere involved by those of us who agree on the points of unity, to come out wthstatement of support on monday,m when the big, and final push for impeachment will begin. the points of unity are: 1. each is a truth seeker 2. gma must go because she does not have the trust of the people 3. we beleive in peaceful, democratic ways of solving this crisis.
let me know if you’re interested in joining the common blog effort on monday.

so, mlq3, those who will gain the most visibility in this umbrella organization will all be seeking posts in the next elections?
