Cignal Digital TV to offer HDTV




Cignal Digital TV is a new service provided by MediaQuest (same company who introduced Smart myTV in the Philippines) is set to offer hi-def TV this coming June.

According to PhilStar, Cignal TV was launched last February 2009. It will directly compete with Dream Satellite TV.


Cignal subscribers will have crystal-clear access to free-to-air channels ABS-CBN 2, TV5, NBN 4, GMA, CS9, QTV, IBC 13, Studio 23, 2nd Avenue, ETC, and NET 25, and high-rating premium channels HBO, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, CNN, PBO, Viva Cinema, AXN, BIO, and RHTV (dzRH Television).

The price for all these channels — Php390/month. There’s a Php5,500 installation fee and a one-year lock-up period.

    SkyCable is only 620 petot for 40 channels here in Rizal. Picture quality is not HQ. but do you need a super HQ signal para lang manuod ng Santino or Zorro?

    The attraction of this service is supposedly the high-def broadcast. Too bad no local channels offer hd broadcast at this point. I’m not sure about HBO and other foreign channels if they broadcast HD in this side of the Earth. Besides, no dedicated sports channel. Will have to pass for now.

    I think I’ll stick to my Skycable subscription until more Asian channels (Nat. Geo, HBO, Cinemax and so on) become available in HD.

    guys! i think you should try Cignal lalo na if you’re looking for a high quality video. Kaya lang if look at the other side of the coin kaunti lang ang channel. i’m currently subscribing to cignal and my satisfaction rating is 70%. Hope they add more channels bago ko pa pagsawaan ang Basketball TV, AXN, and HBO. Mga taga Cignal add Discovery, National Geography, History Channel, Star Movies, Cinemax, ESPN, Solar Sports. Basta dagdagan nyo lang.

  15. CONS : 1. Not HD at all . The satellite
    reciever is not capable of outputting HD
    ,there is no composite output , no HDMI
    output , It only has standard AV
    cables to connect to your tv . Offering
    HDTV is very misleading .

    3. Most PBO movies are from 10-15 years ago
    4. Ugly looking satellite reciever unit , It
    doesnt even show channels on its front
    panel .

    2. Cheap alternative from DREAM who offers

    serious part na tayo:

    paano naman yung di ganon kayaman na mga tao dito sa pilipinas sabi daw hanggang 2015 na lang ang analog signals then sa january 1, 2016 digital na daw lahat. paano yung countdown to year 2016-pagdating ba nang 12 midnight digital na agad???

    Not all channels are in HD. Pro it’s a start. I cant wait for HBO in HD. But then im sure the subscription to HBO HD will be expensive. Since June 2009, all local stations in the US are now broadcasting in digital signals and most of their channels are now in HD. I’ll probably subrivbe to Cignal.

    naku huli na ang abs s digital. nauna na ang gma its simutaneous testing gma channels like gma 7 and qtv11 using uhf 27 frequency.. parang dzrh.. kya nga nagbukas ang gma dagupan etc nationwide kasi nga paghahanda yn ng gma s d technology which mean pwede m n mapanood pati provincial shows ng gma ng sabay sabay ganun yun…. abs puno n mg freequency nila kaya nga super di makita s LUZOn ang signal nila ng clear….pinabintangan pa ang low frequency ng channel 2 eh mali naman yun reason nila na ganun bagkus maina talaga ang frequency nila.. ala ng ambili ng mga yun kasi nga s tfc n lang kumiita ang as cbn iniwanan cla ng colgate palmolive at soon iiwanan din ng NBC networks at mga support from institution na instrumental para umakasang netwok.

    ABS-CBN Philippines launches High Definition with Sony HDC-1400 High Definition Portable Studio Cameras

    LAS VEGAS (NAB Booth #C11001) April 19, 2009 – ABS-CBN Philippines, Asia’s first commercial television broadcaster, has just announced its intention to acquire 24 Sony HDC-1400R HD portable studio cameras. ABS-CBN is upgrading its studio facility at Quezon City, north of Manila, from SD to HD and Sony was the obvious choice.

    ABS-CBN owns the biggest cable network in the Philippines and is involved in the production of television programming for domestic and international audiences. They deliver content around the world to countries including North America, Europe and the Middle East.

    The decision to upgrade to high definition was based on the increasing demand for high definition content from their domestic audiences and those that they export to around the globe. ABS-CBN is at the forefront of broadcasting in the Philippines and is the first to invest in Sony high definition studio cameras.

    Although Sony has a long history of working alongside the network, ABS-CBN evaluated a number of products from other suppliers too. The decision to go with Sony was made even easier when their technical evaluation team saw the stunning picture quality delivered by the Sony HDC camera. The evaluation team, comprised of Mr. Edwin Mendoza, Head of Technical Production Facilities Management, Mr. Danton Wieneke, Head of News and Current Affairs Engineering and Mr. Raul Bulaong, Senior Vice President, Technical Operations Division, also noted that the portable HD studio camera offered enhanced operational flexibility for a variety of studio and Outside Broadcast applications.

    I just got the HD package of Cignal (costs 8k upon 1st installation with a 1k monthly fee). So far, I really enjoy History Channel, which I think is the only HD among the other 6 channels (HBO, Star Movies, Nat Geo, Disney Playhouse, ESPN and Star Sports). BUT they removed all the local channels except TV5. The picture quality is indeed very good, but sometimes History Channel breaks up and skips some frames. As with other digiboxes, the manual says that you shouldn’t use Cignal during lightning storms or you may damage your neighbor’s house when your room explodes.

    I have been a cignal subscriber and as long as you don’t have any problems, you are okay. But once you have issues like reconnection request, there is no cignal support to call. Their published numbers are always busy. No response too from their cignalcare email address. I caution anyone before subscribing to Cignal.

    i’ve been a cignal subscriber for 8 months. At 1st i was very satisfied yet after a couple of months i realize that cignal is only dedicated to their HD subscribers. So if your TV is still analog and you don’t have the money to buy HD and 2 pay P1,000 per month I think Dream Sat TV and G-sat suits you. Mafu-frustrate lang kayo sa tagal nilang magdadag ng channels. The channels that keep me satisfied with them are BTV, HBO, and AXN. Also their pay-per-view spelially if their is a Pacquiao fight. If you want to have Cignal think a million times 1st.

Limited but highly rated channels naman. good video reception compared to GSAT and Dream.I’ve been a dealer of dream for almost six years..as time goes on, the service becomes worst at paunti ng paunti ang channels. Under financial problem pa kasi. Under rehabilitation pa sila right now. W/ GSAT, bukod sa pixels and not so good reception, mukhang tag 1 year yung subscription. Walang monthly.Mabigat sa bulsa yan.So MAG CIGNAL nalang tau. It sells like a hotcake right now. Nagkakaubusan na ng mga units.So If you’re from davao city..please feel free to call us at 2268669.

    Well, I’m just disappointed with Cignal, everytime service is so low. From the very start we applied until now, nothing change, their service suck. Like right now, we are having problem with the misalignment of our satellite dish. They are charging an arm & a leg, P1,000.00 for realigning, WOW. So that is the catch after all for having a Cignal Satellite. False advertisment everywhere, hope Radio Stations would come to their senses on endorsing Cignal…

    hi! makikisali lang co’z im really disappointed with the service of CIGNAL TV…so please don’t get one!!! grabe kakainit ng ulo..i need a new box kasi..sabi nila they’ll try if they can repair it tpos i need to pay 1,500 for the repair plus 800 pa for the technician dba it really sucks!!why do i have to pay for the technician dpat covered n nla un..bakit ibng company..like skycable..pag may lumabas na tao d naman sila bnabayaran to fix the prob sa cable nila..kakainis tlga..plus pag nagpurchase ako ng bagong Box it costs 3,200..ok fine..pero here’s the catch..i still need to pay the techncian pa din daw ng 800..wow..grabe nman dba??!! sobrang kakagigil tlga..so please spread the word..panget service ng Cignal TV!!!! wala pang consideration e kaya nman nasira ung box kasi hndi nagamit after ng undoy pero hndi un nabasa ah..sinave nga nmen un..so kakainis tlga

    1 year and 2 months na akong subscriber ng Cignal at 3 channels lang ang dinagdag nila! Kainis! At sa tatlong ito, and Max ay d pa ma-access ng SD subscribers! Ang mahal din ng Sports Package nila at P200 per month. So P390 + P200 just to enjoy 22 channels, d b ang mahal? Don’t buy Cignal! Baka kc 5 years pa b4 sila magdagdag ng mga channels….!

    This just happened to me now.

    1. I thought there were notifications when one opens their TV for their billing. Wala.
    2. I have not received any billing statements at all.
    3. The billing statements could have helped remind me of paying pero since wala akong natatanggap is because I thought they are giving me goodwill, but then binabayaran ko din, hinahabol ko nga lang.
    4. Last September 15, 2010, I paid thru Metrobank. They disconnected me September 16! I just knew about this because today September 19, ngayon lang ako nagbukas ng TV, dun ko lang nalaman kase wala na akong makitang channel except Channel 5 na me nakablock pang Welcome to Mediaquest.
    6. I do not know why am i ranting on your blog, sir, but do forgive me for venting my ire.
    7. PLDT pa naman is a big company. It is true pala that they do not give a damn about customer service.
    8. Kaya lang ako forced to get satellite, is because SkyCable does not service our area. Kahit anong pakiusap ko, hindi daw puede.

    MY ADVISE : DO NOT GET CIGNAL TV. IT IS NOT WORTH IT. AATAKIHIN LANG KAYO SA PUSO PAG DATING SA AFTER SALES SERVICE. GANO KAKITID ANG UTAK NILA WHEN IT COMES WITH DEALING WITH PROBLEMS.

    mas ok pa ang GSAT mura pa with 30 channels at good for one year ang subscription at hindi ka palagi nag loload every month,,it is convenience for the subscriber…I had been subscribed to GSAT and I satisfied their service kasi wala ka na iisipin pa kasi your subscription is locked with in one year and after one year ka pa uli magrenew ng subscription so it is hassle free…malinaw pa ang reception at pang masa ang ang presyo…

    sa CIGNAL, doble ang aparato mo. TV apparatus at Cignal apparatus.. so doble ang elecric bill mo! aside from messy connection because of signal cone attach to your roof. konti na ang channel, mahal pa ang monthly payment.
    MAG Skycable ka na lang or Home cable. Dami na channel at cable lang ang gamit nila. direct sa TV(RF). walang apparatus so tipid kuryente.. mura pa Monthly.. at higit sa lahat, pwde kang mag splitter kung marami TV mo sa bahay! sa Cignal isang aparato, isang tv.. hindi pwede spliter.

    ako may cignal tv may 3months na free subscription pero ng matapos 3months di na ko makapagpaload pre-paid kc yung sa akin. di ko na macontact ang cignal useless lahat ang phone number nila kahit mag email sa kanila para kunin ko ang account number ko 2wks wala pa rin sagot kaya di ko rin nagagamit ang cable nila.

    i don’t thing i have to spend P1,290 for TV na redundant channel e.g. my Nat Geo SD kana my NAt Geo HD pa, HBO and HBO HD, Star Movies and Star Movies HD. What’s the point of having the same programming? Sayang lng ang binabayaran mo. Ang dapat nilang gawin is to separate SD package from HD. Dpt kung sino lng ang gusto na magkuha ng HD or para magkaroon ng better option ang mga tao.

    their marketing is also very deceiving. they (Cignal) say na my HD kana 4 only P290. Mali yun kasi ang P290 package are consist of free-to-air channels that are broadcast in SD. Hindi ba pangloloko yan sa tao? If you haven’t done your research d mo tlaga malalaman na mahal ang Cignal compared to other DTH providers.

    Try to see their P390 package: most of it are free-to-air channels with a extremely boring Bio Channel, Viva Cinema, and PBO. And for me, the ONLY entertaining channels are AXN, BTV, and HBO. I do find CNN interesting, but do you watch CNN like everyday? An average Filipino don’t even watch CNN at all! How can you find value to your money if I have to pay 390 bucks just to get SEVEN premium channels (given that i just consider Viva and PBO a piece of crap and my computation exclude free-to-air channels since you can access it any time via old school antenna!)

    Trust me! I’ve been a Cignal subscriber for over a year and im telling you you’ll get bored with the programming they are offering you. I honestly can’t afford HD packages so I switch to Dream Satellite TV to get more premium channel like Discovery Ch., Nat Geo, etc. And DREAM is not that bad, kung ang Cignal on scale of 0-10 where 10 is very clear, i think i’ll give them a 9 and DREAM is 8.

    SO think twice before subscribing to Cignal!

    Ask ko lang po itong cignal connection, hindi po ito wired feed galing sa cable outlet sa labas ng bahay? bale ang connection kukunin po ba sa naka feed na satellite dish? kung ganun po, pang iwas tapping po pala ito hehe good

    CIGNAL service is a pure dissapointment! I regret subscribing to its service. You can only enjoy the service whenever its sunny otherwise no signal! Worse, Mediascape has the gall to collect monthly advance payments to its subscribers…what a greedy company this is!

    walang kwenta ang cignal!! pati mga staff ndi consistent s pagkuha ng info ng customer. kainis! pag mag pafollow-up ka hihingin ulit name mo.. etc.. hays.. 4 times hiningi saken ung name ko, address, etc.. tapos nung sinabi kong ipapacancel ko na. binabaan agad ako ng telephone. Bastos!!!

    Cignal TV customer care sucks… So if you can see clear TV stations with your aerial antenna, stay to that and get far away from the worst service ever!

    Ever experienced a customer talking with the customer rep, explaining your side, and suddenly… beep beep beep busy tone?

    In Nov 2010, I paid for one year advance with 2 months free. In January 2012, my payment has expired. On Jan 28, 2012 in the afternoon, I called up Cignal to inquire that if I’m going to pay for one year again, would I still enjoy the 2 months free and the answer I got was ‘Yes’. The following day, I immediately paid the one year advance. On Jan 31, 2012, I called up for activation and inquired about the new expiration date, only to find out that the two months free cannot be availed anymore. But the customer relations officer assured me to bring my concern to billing department bec she acknowledged the statement of the previous officer I talked to on Jan 28. After several follow up, all the customer relations officers I talked to recognized this fact. For why should I pay one year advance if I don’t have any benefit? Today, I followed up again and a certain Leo Apacible arrogantly informed me that I cannot avail of the two months free and according to him I cannot even get a refund of the unused portion of my payment, if I decide to discontinue my subscription. What an unfair trade practice of Cheatnal TV.

    I’ve trying to report this Cignal TV Box Problem, It has been 3 weeks of unresolved problem.. What they did is they replace the box with a new one that is not activated with my account/card error 14.. So, they returned again the Cignal TV Box (Old One), telling that, there is NO Problem with that freaking Box..

    TAGALOG: Kayo na ang humusga kung kaya nyong ilipat ang channel ng box na walang power na nag on/off.. Ire-reklamo ba sa inyo ang box kung nagagamit.. ANG GALING NYO SA SALE PERO SA AKSYON NG REKLAMO, PALPAK KAYO..

    CIGNAL HOTLINE: AKSYUNAN Nyo naman mag 1 Buwan na yang reklamo ko.. ikino close nyo lang ang Report ko sa inyo.. Ang nakaka tuwa ini-return nyo yang unit na yan sa akin at sabi raw sa head office ninyo walang problema..

    march 31 2013.. nag apply ako ng cignal cable.. in that day also. they installed the dish and the box.., after an hours installing, they said> i need to wait 48 hours to activate my account to access the service of the cignal cable.. until right now april 04 2013 i’ve been waiting to use and to access the cignal cable.. i text i call the hotline of the costumer service/ a representative cignal operator/ technician the installer of the cignal cable …(first) the costumer service representative said> he/she make a report regarding in my concern, stay on the line for a moment she/he check my account status and look for the available technician**——— bla bla bla bla abla. sir our representative techian will be on way to fixed your problem in your cignal cable and here the number of our technician .. —blabla bla bla bla.. (Second) i text i call the cignal representative technician>>>>> bla bla bla bla vla, he ask me if i can add to pay a service fee’s kasi malayo pa daw xa??? (costumer Magkano naman po??) its only 300 pesos… he said.. bla bla blah bla he give me another number to be contacs another repredentative installer.. i text i call him>>>> un plug/plug in the cable wire. ect ect ect.. nothing happen. he gives also a number to contact.. last person i talked..

    Their customer care sucks. Most of the service providers assures their customer free service charge when it comes to technical difficulties and yet they keep on saying that they won’t check the problem on site unless we pay them P700++

    If I were you better choose another cable provider if you don’t want to experience this mess.
