0:00It seems like time’s flying by fast this
0:022026 and we’re already in the second
0:04quarter of the year. With that, we can
0:06expect a bunch more phones to be
0:08launched this April as well as the
0:10coming months. But before the new phones
0:12arrive in the Philippines, let’s take a
0:14quick look at the mid-range smartphones
0:16launched this Q1 of 2026, specifically
0:19those priced under 40,000 pesos.
0:22Surprisingly, there were a lot. So, if
0:24you’re in the market to buy one now, I
0:26suggest you stay tuned to see which one
0:28you think is the best. For reference,
0:30the phones below are listed in a random
0:33order and that doesn’t mean that one is
0:35better than the other. It is listed down
0:37by price in ascending order though. So,
0:39without further ado, let’s get started.
0:48Starting things off, we have one of two
0:50Oppo models in this list, the Reno 15F.
0:53It is the budget version of the Reno 15
0:56series starting at just 23,999
0:58pesos for the 8 plus 128 GB
1:01variant. This then makes it the most
1:03affordable smartphone on this list. It’s
1:05also available in 8 plus 256 GB version
1:08for 25,999
1:10pesos and 28,999
1:12pesos for the 12 plus 256 GB model.
1:15Although, the Reno 15F packs a
1:17Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, which is a
1:20rather relatively old processor. Based
1:23on our [music] review, it scored 602,000
1:25on AnTuTu. It’s then paired with a 7,000
1:28mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC wired
1:31charging speeds. The Reno 15F also
1:33features a 6.57-in AMOLED display with a
1:36120Hz refresh rate, a triple rear camera
1:39system with a 50 MP main, 8 MP
1:41ultrawide, and 2 MP macro along with a
1:4450 MP front camera. For protection, it
1:47features an IP66, 68, and 69 rating for
1:51dust and water resistance, making it
1:53quite rugged for everyday use. The
1:56newest phones on this list are the new
1:59Samsung Galaxy A series model launched
2:02just as March ended. With that, we don’t
2:04have the benchmark scores just yet. In
2:06fact, we haven’t even reviewed the phone
2:08yet, at least by the time we recorded
2:10this video. Now, starting things off
2:11with the Galaxy A37 5G, the phone packs
2:14an Exynos 1480 chipset [music] and it is
2:17powered by a 5,000 mAh battery pack with
2:2045W charging speed. It also comes with a
2:236.7-in full HD plus Super AMOLED display
2:26with a 120Hz refresh rate. For cameras,
2:29there’s a 50 MP main, an 8 MP ultrawide,
2:32and a 5 MP macro lens as well as a 12 MP
2:35>> [music]
2:36>> front camera. It’s rated for IP68 dust
2:39and water resistance and runs on
2:40Samsung’s latest One UI 8.5 OS. In terms
2:44of the style, it looks very similar to
2:46the Samsung Galaxy S26 series we were
2:48able to check out earlier this year. The
2:51Galaxy A37 starts at 25,990 pesos for
2:55the 8 plus 128 GB variant and 27,990
2:59pesos for the 8 plus 256 GB variant.
3:02Next up on this list is the Redmi Note
3:0415 Pro Plus. Fun fact, this is also one
3:07of the first phones we reviewed this
3:082026. Powered by a Snapdragon 7S Gen 4
3:12chipset, it is a very capable chipset
3:14that can run most graphic intensive
3:15titles on medium settings. It was able
3:18to run an AnTuTu score of around 816,000
3:21on our review. This makes it perfectly
3:22paired with a 6.83-in 1.5K display with
3:26a 120Hz refresh rate. It only comes with
3:28a dual rear camera though, featuring a
3:30200 MP [music] main and an 8 MP
3:33ultrawide along with a 32 MP front
3:35camera. There is a large 6,500 mAh
3:38battery and 100W fast wired charging. In
3:42addition to its rather unique design,
3:44the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus is also quite
3:46rugged, featuring an IP66, 68, [music]
3:4969, and 69K rating for dust and water
3:53resistance. The Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus
3:55retails for 25,999
3:57pesos for the base 12 plus 256 GB
4:00variant, while the 12 plus 512 GB
4:03variant retails for 27,999
4:06pesos. The top spec Poco X8 model also
4:10makes it on this list with the X8 Pro
4:12Max. While the name might remind you of
4:15a different smartphone, the same can be
4:17said for the design of the phone. But
4:19aside from its design, it’s quite
4:21weather resistant with an IP68 rating
4:23for dust and water resistance. Under the
4:25metal, the Poco X8 Pro Max packs a
4:27MediaTek Dimensity 9500S chipset, which
4:31makes it one of the most powerful
4:32smartphones on this list. It scored over
4:353 million on AnTuTu, making it akin to
4:37flagship-level devices. I mean,
4:39>> [music]
4:39>> they do call this a flagship killer
4:41after all. As for the battery, it’s one
4:43of the biggest as well, [music] an 8,500
4:46mAh battery pack with 100W fast wired
4:49charging. It also features a 6.83-in
4:521.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh
4:55rate and dual rear cameras featuring a
4:5750 [music] MP main, an 8 MP ultrawide,
4:59as well as a 20 MP front camera. It
5:03might be a bit down, at least on
5:04features like camera, but the chipset
5:07and battery make [music] up for it. Not
5:09to mention, the Poco X8 Pro Max retails
5:11for 25,999
5:13pesos for the 12 plus 256 GB variant,
5:16while the 12 plus 512 GB variant retails
5:19for 27,999
5:21pesos. Moving on to the other Samsung
5:24Galaxy A series model, the A57. It’s
5:27similarly designed to the Galaxy A37,
5:29but packs a more capable Exynos 1680
5:32chipset. While it uses a different
5:34chipset, the battery and charging speeds
5:36remain the same, featuring a 5,000 mAh
5:38battery and 45W wired charging. The size
5:42of the display might be the same at 6.7
5:44in, [music]
5:45but it uses a full HD plus Super AMOLED
5:48Plus panel with support for HDR10 Plus.
5:51There’s also a more capable 12 MP
5:53ultrawide, while the 50 MP main and 5 MP
5:56macro lenses remain the same. The Galaxy
5:58A57 also comes with an IP68 rating for
6:01dust and water resistance. Similarly, it
6:04runs on One UI 8.5 OS out of the box.
6:07Pricing for the Samsung Galaxy A57
6:09starts at 28,990
6:12pesos for the 128 GB variant, 30,990
6:15pesos for the 256 GB variant, and 37,990
6:20pesos for the top spec 512 GB model. The
6:23Vivo V series smartphones have jumped in
6:26price over the years with the new V70
6:29now starting at 31,999
6:32pesos for the 8 plus 256 GB model, while
6:36the 12 plus 512 GB model costs 39,999
6:42pesos already. But for those who love
6:43taking photos, the V70 comes with Zeiss
6:46tuned cameras, including a 50 MP main,
6:4950 MP telephoto, and an 8 MP ultrawide.
6:52There’s also a Zeiss 50 MP front camera
6:55for selfies. In terms of performance, it
6:57packs Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, which
7:00scored over 1.4 million on AnTuTu. The
7:03V70 also packs a long-lasting 6,500 mAh
7:07battery with 90W flash charging. The
7:10screen is a bit on the smaller side,
7:11featuring a 6.59-in display with a 120Hz
7:14refresh rate. But thankfully, the phone
7:16is well protected from the elements with
7:18IP68 [music] and 69 ratings for dust and
7:20water resistance. Still, if you love
7:22taking photos, it’s hard to beat what
7:23the Vivo V70 can offer with its Zeiss
7:25tuned [music] cameras. Moving on to the
7:28most expensive phone on this list is the
7:30other Oppo smartphone, the Reno 15 5G.
7:34It starts at 36,999
7:36pesos for the 12 plus 256 GB variant,
7:40while the 12 plus 512 GB variant retails
7:42at 39,999
7:45pesos. At that price, it’s close to some
7:47flagship-level models already. I mean,
7:50just a little bit more. Powering the
7:52Reno 15 5G is a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4
7:55chipset and it is a very capable chipset
7:57with an AnTuTu score of over 1.4
8:00million. With that, expect it to handle
8:01graphic intensive titles without any
8:03issues. It packs a 6,500 mAh battery and
8:06features 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. As
8:09for the display, it comes with a 6.59-in
8:12AMOLED panel with up to 120Hz refresh
8:16rates. Their triple rear camera features
8:18a 50 MP main, a 50 MP telephoto, and an
8:218 MP ultrawide paired with a 50 MP front
8:24camera. For protection, it features IP68
8:27and IP69 levels of dust and water
8:30resistance. So, that’s about it for all
8:33the phones we found interesting this Q1
8:352026 priced under 40,000 pesos. Which
8:39one is your favorite and more
8:41importantly, which one would you [music]
