0:00It’s that time of the year again where
0:01we round off the latest smartphone
0:03releases here in the Philippines. Today,
0:05we’re checking out mid-range smartphones
0:07priced at under 15,000 pesos that were
0:09launched during the first quarter of
0:102026. Take note, these are the latest
0:13releases that we’re covering and not
0:14necessarily a recommended list. Now
0:16that’s out of the way, let’s get right
0:18into the video.
0:22Kicking things off is the Redmi Note 15
0:24series and two of them fall under 15,000
0:26pesos. [music]
0:27The most affordable out of the bunch is
0:29the base model of the Redmi Note 15
0:31priced at just 10,999
0:33pesos. For the price, it gets
0:35entry-level specs along with some good
0:37ones, too. It features a MediaTek Helio
0:39G100 Ultra chipset, a 6.77-in full HD
0:43plus AMOLED display, and a 108-megapixel
0:46main camera. There’s 8 gig of RAM and
0:48128 gig of internal storage that’s
0:50expandable via microSD slot. Battery is
0:53rated at 6,000 mA of our capacity paired
0:55with 33 watts of wired and 18 watts
0:57reverse wired charging. It also gets
0:59some added protection with an IT64
1:01rating for dust and splash resistance.
1:04Interestingly, it doesn’t ship with the
1:05latest HyperOS 3, but instead has
1:07HyperOS 2 with Android 15. Again, the
1:10Redmi Note 15 4G is priced at 10,999
1:13pesos. Next up, we have the 5G version
1:16rocking an identical look with slightly
1:18different internals. It’s equipped with
1:20a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, the same
1:226.77-in AMOLED display, and a
1:25108-megapixel main camera paired with an
1:278-megapixel ultra-wide. For config, it
1:29comes with 8 gig of RAM and 256 [music]
1:32gig of expandable storage. Its battery
1:34is slightly smaller packing a 5,520 mA
1:37unit, but it has a relatively faster
1:39charging rate at 44 watts. This guy does
1:42have a stronger water resistance with an
1:44IP66 rating. And just like its 4G
1:47counterpart, the 5G version also ships
1:49with HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. The
1:51Redmi Note 15 5G starts at 13,999 pesos
1:55for the 6 gig plus 128 gig model and
1:571,000 pesos more for the 8 gig plus 128
1:59gig variant. [music] Another release
2:01from Xiaomi comes from its sub-brand,
2:03the Poco M8 5G. This one’s probably a
2:05cheaper version of the Redmi Note 15 5G
2:08with [music] prices starting at 12,999
2:10pesos. It features the same Snapdragon 6
2:13Gen 3 chip and the same 6.77-in full HD
2:16plus AMOLED display. However, the
2:18cameras are simmered down to a
2:1950-megapixel main shooter and a
2:212-megapixel auxiliary lens. Probably the
2:23best thing about this phone is there’s a
2:25512 gig version that’s big enough for
2:28all your files and apps. Battery-wise,
2:30it packs the same 5,520 mA unit paired
2:33with 45 watts of charging. For extra
2:35peace of mind, it also comes with an
2:37IP66 rating. As expected, this model
2:40ships with HyperOS 2 on top of Android
2:4215 as well. The Poco M8 5G sets you back
2:44at 12,999 pesos for the 256 gig model,
2:48while the 512 gig version is priced at
2:5014,999
2:51pesos. Now, gaming phones on a budget
2:54continue to exist thanks mostly to
2:56Nubia. Their latest budget release being
2:58the Neo 5 5G. There are the usual
3:00console-level shoulder triggers, a
3:01gaming-centric design,
3:03>> [music]
3:03>> and a decently performing chip. Under
3:05the hood, it features a Unisoc T9300
3:07chipset [music] combined with 8 gig of
3:09RAM and 128 gig of expandable storage.
3:12For cameras, it gets a 50-megapixel main
3:14shooter paired with a 2-megapixel depth
3:16sensor. [music] Battery is rated at 6050
3:19mA unit complemented with 45 watts of
3:21charging. It also supports an IP64
3:24rating for dust and splash resistance.
3:26And on to the software side, it ships
3:27with the latest Android 16 using its
3:29MyOS 16 skin. The Nubia Neo 5G is priced
3:32at just 11,999
3:34pesos.
3:35>> [music]
3:35>> The next entry is somewhat a weird brew
3:37from Oppo, but in a good way, and it’s
3:39the A60 [music] Pro. It compromises on a
3:41couple of major features, but champions
3:43itself when it comes to delivering a
3:45solid battery life and solid protection.
3:47For starters, it boasts a 7,000 mA
3:50battery big enough to last up to 11
3:52hours of mobile gaming, or so at least
3:54according to Oppo. And it comes with an
3:56IP69 rating for that high level of dust
3:59and water resistance. These are
4:00something you rarely see at this price
4:02point. Now for the compromises, the
4:04display and performance. It only sports
4:06a 6.75-in HD plus IPS LCD. [music]
4:10Yes, you heard that right, it’s not
4:11using an AMOLED screen. Plus, the
4:13chipset on board is the Snapdragon 685
4:16which only delivers an entry-level
4:18performance. Other notable features are
4:20a 50-megapixel main camera, a microSD
4:22slot, and 45 watts of charging. The Oppo
4:25A60 Pro comes in at 10,999 pesos. Last,
4:29but definitely not the least, we have
4:31the Infinix Note Edge [music] coming at
4:3314,999 pesos. Specs-wise, it features a
4:36MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset and a
4:39relatively better-looking 6.78-in
4:41[music] AMOLED display. The screen has a
4:431.5K resolution and uses a curved edge
4:46design, hence the name. For config, it
4:48packs 8 gig of RAM and 256 gig of
4:51internal storage. Sadly, no microSD card
4:53slot [music] here. At the rear, it
4:55sports a 50-megapixel main shooter
4:57alongside an auxiliary lens. Keeping
4:59things running [music] is a 6,500 mA
5:01battery paired with 45 watts of
5:03charging. Of course, this one also gets
5:05some nice ingress protection with IP65
5:08rating. Software-wise, it ships with the
5:10latest XOS 16 on top of Android 16.
5:12[music] Again, the Infinix Note Edge is
5:14priced at 14,999
5:16pesos.
