Nokia has updated its navigating device with the Nokia 6710 Navigator that includes full voice-guidance and an integrated compass pedestrian guidance that works even without a SIM.

The 6710 Navigator has a little curved shaped (reminds me of the G1) at the bottom end for a better grip and like the E55, it has full-voice guidance, a touch-sensitive zoom area just below the display screen (for map navigation), integrated compass pedestrian guidance with navigation functions that work without a SIM.
Since this model is focused on navigation, accessories include a car mobile holder, easy mount and car kit. The 6710 will be released in Q3 of 2009.

This is a good GPS device and the functionality without a sim is really a great deal.
does it have support for a detailed Philippine map particularly in metro manila?
I got a 6710 first week of November 2009.
- The “pre-loaded regional maps” had to be downloaded so I couldn’t view the maps before purchasing
- “Philippine maps are not yet available” :’(
(according to a rep at Nokia Care)
- Speaker is on the lower right on the back of the phone. If you are right-handed the audio will be a bit muffled when you’re holding the phone upright
- Most functions are available in offline mode (i.e. no SIM card inserted)
- GPS seems to work but without a detailed map I can’t really say if it was accurate
Question: Does 6710 Works directly to GPS System not a Cellular/Cell Site GPS System (Triangulation)
What if I remove the SIM does the GPS still works?
How’s the stability of the software?
I’m planning to buy one of those and replace my Garmin in my car… I do a lot of Geocaching so I need accurate and stable GPS like Garmin
