The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has filed a memo suspending the acceptance of new applications of Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS) like Uber and Grab in Metro Manila.
According to ABS-CBN News, the suspension is due to backlog as the government reviews its policies on fare spikes. Cherie Mercado, Spokesperson of the Department of Transportation, said that “the suspension was indefinite and it was not clear what changes would be required to reverse it.”

Sana wag nila pahirapan ang mga Uber and Grab drivers. Instead, they should revise the guidelines for taxi operators and drivers. And sa UV operators and drivers too, wag ginagatasan. Goodness ang olats ng public transportation system natin. Unless they make it a law na pag nakakita ang commuter ng red plate, pwede parahin and the red plate driver will not have a choice kundi pumara at isakay si commuter. After all, pera ng tax payer galing ang sasakyan and gas ni red plate! One thing they can look into is Grabcar’s pricing. Ridiculous so I stopped using Grab. Buti meron Uber. Dapat ganun. Pag unfair or di maganda presyo ng isa, may alternative tayo bilang consumers. Hindi ung hawak tayo sa leeg.

I think they should start by asking which group provides better services. Maybe it’s not TNVS who needs to change if the taxi operators are proven to be “unappealing”.
