Globe Telecom and Smart Communications have both released their postpaid plans for the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, and we know how it feels to choose between the two telcos on which one’s a sweeter deal. We break down the details for you on where you’ll get more bang for your buck.

Globe’s recommended setup of ThePlan 1499 has free value-added services such as 3 months of Spotify Premium, 6 months of Netflix subscription, and Globe’s own Gadget Care. Their offer is also competitive with unlimited calls to Globe or TM numbers, unlimited texts to all networks, and 8GB of mobile data that you can use for any purpose you want. The 24-month added value on top is only available when you have a credit card to make installments out of the specified cashout or is charged to the bill when re-contracting, otherwise, you’d have to take it out in full.
Meanwhile, Smart’s GigaX Plan 1499 offers unlimited all-network texts, an hour of all-network calls, and dedicated mobile data allocations for video streaming (10GB) and everything else (5GB) which is quite a good deal if you’re into watching online content on your phone. The cashout scheme is a bit higher than Globe’s, but could still be broken down into 24-month installments that can be added on top of the monthly service fee.
Overall, Globe’s offering is a more well-rounded plan that would make the most out of your monthly payments. On the other hand, Smart’s offering is surely great for binge-watchers who do not mind the slightly higher fees just to play more content with the S9 or S9+. Just to compare, unlocked units will be available at Php45,990 for the S9 and starting at Php52,990 for the S9+, with pre-orders currently underway both offline and online.
Which one do you think is the better postpaid plan for you? Let us know in the comments section below.

There are errors in your computation. In fairness to smart,
Cash out for S9 is 24,000. The 25,499 you presented included 1 month payment so it should be 24,000. So, for 24 months, total contract price is 59,976. Same as globe
Cash out for S9+ is 31,200. Again, the 32,699 you presented included a 1 month payment. And globe’s cash out is a bit higher by 800. So the total contract amount totals 67,176. A bit lower than globe.
Author needs to dig more before presenting any computations.
One more thing, one of the authors here presented s8 and s8+ postpaid plans for the two telcos and globe’s plans came out cheaper. But it turns out that smart’s plans are really cheaper after i visited their stores.
