Kodak has unveiled the Charmera Millennium Edition, a new Y2K-inspired version of its popular mini digital camera that gained attention for its retro aesthetic and intentionally low-fi image quality.
The new release builds on last year’s sold-out Charmera 1987 Edition, introducing six new color variants inspired by early-2000s technology and pop culture. Kodak has also added themed photo filters and frames inspired by camcorders, internet culture, and classic software from the Y2K era.
Despite the refreshed look, the camera’s hardware remains unchanged. The Charmera Millennium Edition retains its 35mm f/2.4 lens and 1/4-inch CMOS sensor capable of capturing 1.6MP photos and recording video at up to 1440 x 1080 resolution at 30fps.
Like its predecessor, the camera is sold in a blind-box format, meaning buyers will not know which color variant they receive until opening the package. Kodak is also offering a complete set containing all six standard designs, alongside a limited-edition silver version available at random.
The Charmera has become popular among collectors and social media users seeking a nostalgic digital photography experience. Rather than competing with modern cameras on image quality, the device embraces its toy-like nature, delivering intentionally imperfect photos that mimic the charm of early digital cameras.
The Millennium Edition continues Kodak’s strategy of tapping into growing demand for retro technology and Y2K-inspired products, a trend that has seen renewed interest in compact digital cameras, film photography, and vintage gadgets.
Kodak has not yet announced availability for the Charmera Millennium Edition in the Philippines. It is also unclear whether the camera will be offered through local retailers or online marketplaces. Interested buyers may need to rely on international sellers for now.
