Team Sibol soars on global Esports stage

Team Sibol is a force to be reckoned with, claiming six medals at the Southeast Asian Games in May, including two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. In a historic feat, Sibol achieved medals in every esports title contested at the Games.

The triumphs continued at the International Esports Federation (IESF) 2023, where Sibol clinched gold in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and silver in Tekken 7. In September, the Philippines, led by Team Sibol, emerged as the overall champion at the IESF World Championship, defeating over 111 nations.

“We take immense pride in supporting a team of talented and passionate players who have been training relentlessly to represent our country,” said Jabs Escutin, Sibol General Manager.

“Looking ahead to 2024, we hold firm in our belief that Sibol will persist in elevating the Philippines on the global esports stage.”

PESO marks milestones, eyes ambitious 2024 goals

Beyond Team Sibol’s victories, PESO itself achieved milestones throughout the year. In July, the organization opened its state-of-the-art headquarters in Mandaluyong, providing Sibol players with advanced training and collaboration facilities.

PESO’s efforts were further recognized as they earned the prestigious IESF National Federation of the Year 2023, topping 140 countries.

For 2024, PESO focuses on:

Building an esports facility: PESO will construct a comprehensive facility for athlete training, events, and broadcasting. The organization says it has blueprints already prepared and now on finalizing proper procedure for funding.

Expanding National Grassroots Programs (NGP): PESO will actively identify and nurture talents through initiatives in eight key locations in Visayas and Mindanao.

Enhancing Esports infrastructure: PESO envisions its planned facility not only as a training ground but also as a cutting-edge broadcast center equipped with the latest technology.

“PESO’s esports facility is not just a space; it’s a dynamic broadcast center, bringing online events to life with cutting-edge technology and production values,” said PESO Executive Director Marlon Marcelo.

“PESO’s vision for 2024 is to create spaces that inspire excellence and propel esports to new heights.”

Building upon 2023’s successes, PESO embarks on an even more exciting journey in 2024. With visionary plans and unwavering dedication, PESO is poised to solidify the Philippines’ position as a leading force in the world of esports.
