Elon Musk’s xAI has unveiled Grokipedia v0.1, an open-source encyclopedia powered entirely by AI. Built on xAI’s Grok language model, the platform automatically generates and updates factual entries, no community editors needed.
Dubbed a “better Wikipedia” by Musk, Grokipedia already hosts over 885,000 articles. Its clean layout focuses on speed and clarity, with users submitting edits through Grok instead of manual revisions.
Unlike Wikipedia’s open system, Grokipedia runs fully on AI oversight for accuracy and neutrality. However, critics question its lack of inline citations and potential bias, since much of its content is adapted under the Creative Commons license.
xAI, founded by Musk in 2023, aims to build “truthful” AI systems that integrate with X, Tesla, and SpaceX technologies. Grokipedia is now live at Grokipedia.com, where users can browse or request updates via X accounts. Mobile apps are yet to launch.
