Opera for Android Gets AI Upgrades

Listen to article

Opera has rolled out new AI upgrades for Opera on Android, bringing its mobile browser closer to the features found on Opera One desktop. The update makes using AI smarter and more convenient by letting users share files, photos, and even webpage content directly with the built-in assistant.

A new “Ask AI” button now appears in the search bar. From there, users can switch between regular web search and AI chat anytime. You can also tap the “+” icon to upload documents or images, or snap a photo for tasks like translations, explanations, or follow-up questions.

Another useful addition is webpage context support. With just a few taps, the AI can automatically read the page you’re currently viewing and use it as reference, so there’s no need to copy and paste long text. Opera says privacy remains a priority. The AI only sees the active tab, data is encrypted, stored for up to 30 days for continuity, and never used for ads or training. The new features are now available through the latest Opera for Android update on Google Play.
