Alcatel Flash 2 Review

OS, Apps, and UI

The Flash 2 boots Android 5.1 Lollipop, not the latest since it currently trails behind the latest 6.0 Marshmallow update. While the software game of Android is fragmented, even the big players can’t keep up, this version of the OS is already good for everyday usage.

The skin on top is light and that’s good. This will keep things running smoothly and perhaps Alcatel can provide faster updates as long as MediaTek will also do their part. If you’re not fond of the looks of the Flash 2 out of the box, it’s easy to customize by downloading your preferred launcher from the Play Store and add a neat icon pack for more appeal.

Camera and Multimedia

There’s a 13-megapixel shooter placed on the back of the device which you’ll primary use for everyday shots. While the megapixel number is high, quality on the other hand is somewhat lacking.

Over sharpening is greatly present throughout the outdoor shots took with the Flash 2. Autofocus is also slow that you’ll have to tap in between shots to properly set the focus. Colors are good and Alcatel has some neat and playful camera features to play with.

Low-light performance is so-so but the dual-tone flash might be able to help with indoor portraits. There’s also a 5-megapixel selfie camera with its own dedicated flash.

Video recording is up to 1080p, but the default is set to 720p. You’ll have to dig under the setting and set the “quality” to fine. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to find out about this until we checked the video on our notebook. Here’s a video sample set at 720p in 3gp format.

Like with the stills, we have to deal with slow autofocus during recording. If the autofocus problem can be fixed through a software update, the Flash 2 can be an everyday shooter. For now, it’s not something you can use to take quick snapshots without blur.

Acually the camera was great for me. And the problem lang is pag nag take ka ng pic konting galaw lang mag blrurry siya. But over all superb yung camera and the performance also. 2months na siya sakin. :)

Based dinsa ibang reviews, Camera is okay but not that great, slight yellowish tint. Though okay pa din sa gaming mas mataas battery MAH. though i’d like to consider na konti na lng 3GB Ram at higher battery na Myphone My35 na makukuha mo.
