Cherry Mobile’s latest Android smartphone is a dual-SIM handset. Called the Cherry Mobile Orbit, the unit has a suggested retail price of Php12,998USD 221INR 18,777EUR 211CNY 1,613 but on May 19, CM will sell it for 50% off.
The SRP doesn’t seem to be that attractive considering there are a number of Samsung and LG Android phones in that range. However, at Php6,499USD 111INR 9,388EUR 105CNY 807, it could convince a number of CM fans to grab one that day. That and the fact that this is a dual-SIM phone.

How is the quality of Cherry Mobile’s support?
Currently eyeing a Huawei IDEOS U8150 priced at P6,850~P6,900 with a 1year warranty and still unsure if Huawei service centers covers their phones as well.

pero since wala namang gigabyte dito, okay na din to.
Charles says:
Sa ngayon ok lang kung medyo average and build quality at speed/responsiveness ng phone na to. Kelangan malaman ang battery life!!!
csseyah says:
I think ok itong Cherry Mobile Orbit, I’ll buy one on May 19.
intersectRaven says:
This is the GSmart from Gigabyte but I doubt if this will be covered by their support. More likely that Cherry Mobile will still be the one to provide support. As for the upgrade option, I’m waiting as to whether this will be fastboot unlock capable to determine whether I’ll get it. :)
walang imik says:
Mag nokia 3310 n lang ako kesa mag cherry mobile. Peace!
JoMi says:
6.5k for the specs of Orbit is a good deal! Tnx for sharing, Abe! Rock on! =)

cool price for an android
btw, care to look at this site http://halogentv.com/ your themes looks the same (hmmm almost) :)
Eason says:
Specs wise on the price of the sale its better than the Dual Sim android phones of Torque.
But still, the final verdict is that….IF YOU DO NOT NEED DUAL SIM just buy a Samsung or LG entry level android.
Just going to the official fanpage of Cherry Mobile you will definitely think twice before buying. With all of the bomnbards of fail after sales service are signs that they flop in after sales service including me having a cherry mobile P3 serviced now FOR MORE THAN 3 months.
They are like the CD-R King for cellphones for me.
Rain says:
Hi Abe,
Promo is only applicable to Cherry Mobile concept stores like SM annex… :)
Marc says:
Only Cherry Mobile Concept Stores hmm?
Naku… mukhang Laking Gulo nanaman ito….
Since they didn’t put a time limit, I think they’ll follow the Cebu Pacific model of seat sales and have only a limited number of phones at 50% off. Once they’re all gone, the remaining stock is full price. XD
erickkk says:
Hmm.. weird, last week posted ito sa product page niya sa cherrymobile.com.ph, now wala na siya.. bakit kaya?
mr. bogus says:
gudluck!!!
bad battery
bad hardware
bad after sales!!!!
JD says:
pangit talaga after sales service ng cherry mobile. kailangang makipag talo ka pa para lang pakingan ka. mura nga pero pasasakitin lang ulo mo pag nagloko. GRRRRRRRRRR. kainis kang cherry ka
Faith@ahead says:
cherry has bad quality? then why settle for it? If one wants to buy android phones, then one should invest in the good kinds.
Noir says:
Just went to a CM Kiosk and the sale is going on now.
Didnt buy one since GLobe has not yet released our 3 Ideos..:(
Iyan Sommerset says:
Meh. Passed by SM City North EDSA a few hours ago to snag one. Turns out they were just getting reservations (for 1k a pop!) for the Orbit which will be available “next week”… Remembering what I’ve read about the quality of their after-sales service, I decided it wasn’t worth the trouble. Not looking forward to weeks and weeks of following up for the unit to be available.
mark says:
mga sir sa mga nakabili na nito musta po ung battery performance madali po ba sya malowbat..
pa rate naman sir it a “high mid low” ?

this is my personal experience with the cherry orbit:
may 19 2011: at around 1pm i bought my cherry orbit at the cherry kiosk in robinsons ermita. it is priced at P6,499 with free globe sim. it only took me 5 mins to test and complete the sale.
i used the unit for the next couple of hours until the low battery warning appeared at about 7pm.. charged it for about 3 hours as stated by the sales rep then after charging i already tinkered with the orbit..after 1 hr i’ve noticed that it consumes quite bit of energy, then i put it to sleep.
may 20 2011: the orbit started its day at 9:00am
text a few people, most of the day the orbit was on stand by, it got low about at about 7pm..after 30-40 text messages sent, 30-40 received text messages and atleast 10 hours of stand by time..i’ve charged by that time and then did my chores..after 3 hours i’ve check th e orbit and its still charging, so left it and did something else..on the 4th hour checked it again and its still charging, then came the 5th and 6th hour and its still charging, this made me get worried since this is the first time in last couple of years that i’ve charge a cellphone that long and yet it has reached it peak..then came the 7th hour, its already 1:45am of may 21, 2011..i pulled the plug even if its still charging and used the orbit for wifi browsing for atleast 20 mins..then put it to sleep.
may 21, 2011: the orbit started the day at 9:20am with 96% battery life..i’ve downloaded battery doctor and advance task manager from the android shop to help improve the battery performance of the orbit..sad to say it did little help..even if you kill most of the apps that were running at the background, some of them manage to start up again like the clock, weather, people apps..most of the am and afternoon, the orbit was just on stand by mode..as of now 10:30 pm i’ve sent atleast 8 text messages, received 10 text messages, less that 2 minutes of call time, 30 mins of wifi browsing time and atleast 13 hrs of stand by time..my orbit’s battery life 30%..how pathetic!!
you do the math..this is one of the worst phones in the market today in terms of battery life performance!!
i’ve learned my lesson well, that is “NEVER TO BUY ANY CHERRY PRODUCT AGAIN, EVEN IF THEY SELL IT AT 90% DISCOUNT!!”
tim says:
I own one of this. All i can say is it has the worst battery life ever. Poor sound volume too. The vibration come and go. Not stable
Elvie says:
I’ve tried almost all kinds of phones already, all I can say is that, this cherry mobile orbit is the worst when it comes to battery life, the speaker is also just murmuring, can’t even hear my favorite music without using the earphone. my housemates are all laughing at me, since their phone’s speaker sounds very loud. the 5mp camera is no use. my husband’s 3.2 mp nokia e52 is better. and the sensor gets me mad everytime i want to use it. bad trip everytime i want to use it, i want to trade in my cherry mobile orbit kahit 5,000 k na lang. ayaw ko ibenta sa office, masisira lang ako. nagbenta ng walang kuwentang cellphone, sana nakinig na lang ako sa kaopisina ko, bumili na lang ako dapat ng samsung galaxy mini, konti lang diprensiya. sising sisi ako, dapat di ko kinagat yung 50% off. naghintay sana muna ako ng reviews, comments. di na uli ako magpapaloko.
2nd day: fully charged at 10pm. i turned off edge and unchecked use of network connections. at 7am, 43% na lang ang battery.
3rd day: fully charged at 10pm. turned of all connections(3g, edge, etc.) and disabled the 2nd sim card. used Netqin Android Booster(fr App Market). at 7am, 86% ang battery.
EyeMan says:
Cherry phones are easy to use. It combines the Nokia and Samsung OS and patterns. But it costs much to have it repaired coz parts are not available except at Cherry repair centers. For lcd of M33 w/c costs P2,300 you spend P1,300.00. Not practical compared to LCDs of brand phones costing P600 to P900.
ulraman says:
When is the next sale of Cherry Orbit. Am interested buying one but at 50% discount only.
