Facebook users can now donate to help fight COVID-19

Facebook recently launched a feature where users can donate to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fundraiser that supports the WHO’s global efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization (WHO) enables individuals, corporations, foundations, and other organizations around the world to directly support WHO’s global work to help countries prevent, detect, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in accordance with the WHO Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan.

The Fund was created at the request of WHO by the United Nations Foundation in partnership with the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation. Transnational Giving Europe Network, of which Swiss Philanthropy Foundation is the Swiss representative, will facilitate donations across Europe.

Facebook is also matching the first USD 10 million donated. As of writing, PHP 130,027,070 was raised out of the PHP 513,066,337 in the span of 4 days.

Facebook users can start donating by tapping on the fundraiser ‘Donate’ button when it appears at the top of their feed. Users can also head to this link to donate.
