Over lunch this afternoon, I was able to get hold of an upcoming Android smartphone from Huawei. I also learned that the Huawei Honor U8860 will finally be released in the Philippines sometime next week with an expected retail price of under Php15k.
Huawei claims that the Honor U8860 will last for about 3 days on a single full charge, a claim supported by its high-capacity 1930mAh Li-Ion battery.
The specs of the Huawei Honor can be considered to be in the mid-range category and will probably go head on with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy W, Sony-Ericsson Xperia Arc S and LG Optimus Black.
Huawei Honor U8860 specs:
4.0″ TFT display @ 480×854 pixels, 16M colors, 245ppi
Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon S2 1.4GHz
Adreno 205
1GB storage, 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM
up to 32GB via microSD card
HSDPA 14.4 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ EDR, A2DP
8MP autofocus camera with LED flash
720p video recording
FM radio tuner
GPS with aGPS support
Li-Ion 1930 mAh battery
Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread
Rep from Huawei promises the Ice Cream Sandwich update will be out by April so those who will by this next week will get it via OTA.
The handset feels a bit chunky at 11mm, has a bit of heft to it and does not have that plasticky feel like the Galaxy Ace.
In any case, we’re very interested how much the suggested retail price will be once it hit stores next week.

Yeah, right. I’ll believe it when it comes. That’s also what Samsung said to their consumers, pero eto, wala pa rin. Hmp!
