OPPO A79 becomes official

Listen to article

The OPPO A79 has finally been announced and it closely resembles the recently launched OPPO R11s. In terms of hardware configurations, there are a lot of similarities with the OPPO F5 and the OPPO F5 Youth (launched yesterday).

The main difference is that the OPPO A79 uses an OLED screen, has a 4GB/64GB memory and storage combo and while the internal battery is slightly lower at 3,000mAh, it supports VOOC fast charging.

In terms of design, there won’t be a lot of cosmetic differences as well so we’re not sure how the A79 will eventually fit in OPPO’s line-up, at least here in the Philippines.

OPPO A79 specs:
6-inch OLED FHD+ (2160 x 1080) display, 402ppi
MediaTek Helio P23 MT6763T 2.50GHz octa-core CPU
Mali-G71 MP2 GPU
4GB RAM
64GB internal storage
microSD card support (dedicated slot)
16MP f/1.8 rear camera w/ LED flash
16MP f/2.0 front camera
Dual-SIM (nano)
4G LTE
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.2
GPS with aGPS support
Gyroscope
microUSB
Fingerprint scanner
Face Unlock
ColorOS 3.2 (Android 7.1.1 Nougat)
3,000mAh Li-Ion battery

The expected price for the OPPO A79 is also pegged at $360 (around Php18k) which is also higher than the F5. We’ll eventually know once we get details from OPPO PH.
