In September, Xiaomi unveiled new additions in their 11 series of smartphones — the Xiaomi 11T 5G, 11T Pro 5G, and the 11 Lite 5G NE. What we have here is the most powerful of the bunch, packing a 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass Victus, Snapdragon 888, and 108MP triple-rear cameras — the Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G. Here’s our unboxing and initial thoughts.
The 11T Pro 5G is a tall device due to its large 6.67-inch screen. It has a Full HD+ resolution, an AMOLED panel with HDR10+ support, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a 480Hz touch sampling rate. For protection, it has Gorilla Glass Victus with a screen protector pre-installed.
The screen is sharp, vibrant, with punchy colors. It doesn’t have a curved screen but it seems immersive thanks to the slim bezels. It uses a hole punch, though, for the 16MP front camera, and above it is the earpiece.
Placed on the right side is the power/lock button that also doubles as a fingerprint scanner, and the volume keys. The buttons are firm and clicky, and easy to reach as they’re placed near the center of the frame.
Up top are the IR blaster, the secondary microphone, and one of the Harman/Kardon-powered stereo speakers.
Below is the dual-SIM card tray, main microphone, USB-C port, and loudspeaker.
Flip it on its back and you will see the large camera module that houses the 108MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, and 5MP telemacro lens. Also found here are the AF sensors, microphone for video recording, and triple LED flash.
The Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G is a flagship smartphone and it definitely feels like one. It has an aluminum frame and glass back in Meteorite Gray color. The sides are curved while the top and bottom are flatter. It’s easy to grip but will require both hands for easier navigation. It has a decent thickness of 8.8mm and is a bit hefty at 204g. We recommend using the clear case, though, as the back panel attracts smudges and fingerprints like crazy.
Powering the 11T Pro 5G is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset with Adreno 660 GPU, up to 12GB of RAM, and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. For the software, it runs on MIUI 12.5.5 based on Android 11. Our initial AnTuTu V9 test got us a score of 652,181, so we can expect good performance.
The Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G 8GB + 256GB is priced at PHP 27,990USD 477INR 40,434EUR 454CNY 3,474, while the 12GB + 256GB is at PHP 29,990USD 511INR 43,324EUR 487CNY 3,722. We’ll know more about this device in our full review, so stay tuned for that.
