Listen to article

AnandTech, a well-known site for computer hardware enthusiasts, is closing its doors after nearly three decades (27 Years). Ryan Smith, the site’s final editor-in-chief, announced the news 21, stating that the market for written tech journalism has changed significantly and will not return to its former state.

Anandtech

Founded in 1997 by Anand Lal Shimpi, AnandTech gained a strong following for its detailed reviews and in-depth analysis of motherboards, chips, and other computer hardware. Shimpi led the site until 2014 before leaving to join Apple. He often spoke out against the trend of online media moving towards sensationalism and away from quality content.

Despite this closure, fans and readers of AnandTech can still access its content. Future PLC, the site’s publisher, has said it will keep the archive of articles available indefinitely.

On the other hand the AnandTech Forums will also remain active, with Future’s community team continuing to moderate them.

It’s the end of an era for AnandTech, but its legacy of quality tech journalism will live on through its archives and the community it built.

What are your favorite memories of AnandTech? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. We’d love to hear from you.
