Apple acquires MotionVFX for Final Cut Pro upgrade

Listen to article

Apple has acquired MotionVFX, a company that creates plug-ins and templates for Final Cut Pro, to improve its video editing tools and attract more creators. The deal was announced by MotionVFX, but Apple has not shared the price or details of the purchase.

MotionVFX, based in Warsaw and founded in 2009, offers video effects, graphics, and editing tools used by professional editors. Its services start at $29 per month. The company said it is joining Apple to help creators produce better content using simple and high-quality tools.

Apple has not yet explained how it will use MotionVFX, but the tools may be added to Final Cut Pro and other Apple apps. This move could also help Apple compete with Adobe Premiere Pro and other editing software under Adobe Creative Cloud.

Earlier this year, Apple launched Creator Studio, a subscription bundle that includes apps like Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro. The bundle costs $12.99 per month or $129 per year and also offers extra content for apps like Keynote and Pages.

By buying MotionVFX, Apple aims to improve its creative tools and attract more users to its subscription services. Apple’s services business has been growing, now making up over 26% of its total revenue.
