Beep cards now accepted in Citylink C5 route buses

Beep cards can now be used to pay for bus rides on Citylink buses plying the Newport City-Eastwood City route.

This is the first distance-based fare implementation of the smart card in buses, thereby applying the “tap in-tap out” scheme. Passengers are required to tap their beep card twice—upon boarding and before getting off the bus. The bus route that travels through the C5 road and McKinley Hill costs P39 pesos.

The buses are equipped with global positioning system (GPS) to determine the location of the stop. Citylink’s C5 route buses operate from Mondays to Saturdays with trips as early as 6 A.M.

To avoid errors, passengers must always make sure they have the minimum required load. Beep cards can be reloaded at FamilyMart outlets and select branches of Bayad Center, SM Bills Payment, Villarica, and Tambunting.
