Listen to article

Student Beep cards with a 50% fare discount will be available starting September 15, 2025. The news was announced by the Department of Transportation via a Facebook post.

To apply, students need to present a valid school ID or registration form. The cards will be printed on the spot in designated stations in Metro Manila.

Each card is valid up to a year, and can be renewed every school year. The 50% fare discount will be available at all train stations using Beep cards.

This includes all LRT and MRT lines, with the DOTr advising students to re-apply yearly to avoid lines. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve public transportation in the Philippines.

In addition, it will help provide financial relief for students reliant on the trains for transit. The DOTr has also added 300,000 new Beep cards to address demand.

Recently, the agency has also rolled out QR code and tap card payments at select stations. The moves have proven to better and alleviate the commuting experience in the country.
