Foldable iPhone could come in 2026

Listen to article

There have been plenty of rumors about foldable iPhones in the works inside that fancy Apple Park, but a new report suggests we might finally see it become a reality in 2026.

According to Omdia analyst Kang Min-soo, Apple could be prepping a 7- to 8-inch “book type” foldable, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series. There’s also a chance we might get a more compact clamshell design, but specifics are still under wraps.

Here’s the kicker: Apple’s foldable is supposedly aiming to be thinner and lighter than existing options. An unnamed Apple official, quoted by AlphaBiz, reportedly stated, “Our goal is particularly to prevent the crease marks that competitors are struggling with.”

This focus on minimizing the crease, let alone achieving a slimmer, lighter profile, explains Apple’s potential delay. After all, why rush a product that doesn’t quite meet the company’s lofty standards?

Adding another layer of context, IDC analysts point out that the foldable market itself is still finding its footing. “Foldables were a hard sell in 2023,” one analyst noted, with high prices and durability concerns keeping many consumers on the fence.
