Globe says fiber capacity has jumped 38.6%

Globe At Home has announced that its fiber capacity registered growth as high as 38.6 percent quarter-on-quarter.

According to the telco, this is attributed to the increasing demand for better connectivity for remote learning, digital entertainment, and livelihood and productivity at home.

The company also said that it has rolled out 1.4 million Fiber To The Home (FTTH) lines last year in response to that demand. This aggressive fiber rollout has resulted in a 208% increase in consolidated fiber take up for 2021.

“Putting fiber to homes remains a focus area for Globe as we aspire to expand our reach and market share. We continue to invest in this area as we continue to see huge potential to expand our fiber footprint nationwide,” said Barbie Dapul, VP for Marketing.

Globe At Home service revenues is also looking good as it has reached a 10% increase to a record-high of PHP 29.4USD 0.50INR 42EUR 0.48CNY 4 billion in 2021 from PHP 26.8USD 0.46INR 39EUR 0.43CNY 3 billion in 2020. This also surpassed 2019’s pre-pandemic revenues by 35%.

For this year, Globe has earmarked PHP 89USD 2INR 129EUR 1CNY 11 billion in capital expenditures to ramp up the fiberization of Filipino homes nationwide, build new cell sites, upgrade existing sites to 4G/LTE, and accelerate the rollout of 5G connectivity.

  1. We were finally able to get Globe At Home fiber and I am very happy with the speed and consistency. Customer service is another story but that’s typical of ISPs, not just Globe.
