Lazada CEO Inanc Balci told ANC’s The Boss that the company is working its way to use AI or Artificial Intelligence to optimize operations. The company first launched its first fully automated warehouse in Malaysia and currently, robots are operating there now.

Balci said that they also want the same for the Philippines. He noted that using AI will not lessen job opportunities for Filipinos since Lazada is “focused on expansion in the country than profit“.

“Hopefully more jobs but definitely not less jobs because business is booming at the moment, we are focusing on growth, that’s why we continue investing,” he said.

Lazada’s warehouse in Cabuyao will be one of the biggest yet as it will be extended to 60,000 sqm from 30,000 sqm and it will be the first fully automated e-commerce plant in the country next year.

Lazada also stores products they sell themselves. That’s why you’d see “Sold and Fulfilled by Lazada” items in the e-commerce website.
