The OnePlus Open Apex Edition has been revealed. The new variant offers a new sleek design with a Crimson Shadow colorway and a new feature.
The Apex Edition of the device sports a dark red tone with faux leather material. It also has a gold accent on its Alert Slider. Speaking of, moving the slider up enables VIP Mode.
This new feature lets users go incognito, turning off the device’s camera, microphone, and location. OnePlus noted that VIP Mode offers “chip-level encryption and privacy”.
Notably, this is the only OnePlus Open model that offers 1TB of storage. However, all models offer 16GB of RAM. The rest of the device specs are the same as well.
The OnePlus Open boasts a 7.82-inch LTPO3 foldable AMOLED display panel and a 6.31-inch cover screen. Powering it is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset courtesy of Qualcomm.
Optics are tuned by Hasselblad, including two (2) 48-megapixel rear cameras and a 64-megapixel telephoto camera. Front cameras consist of a 20-megapixel inner camera and a 32-megapixel shooter.
The device packs a 4,805mAh battery with 67W of fast charging via USB Type-C. It runs on ColorOS 13 (Android 13) out of the box, upgradeable to OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14.
Other features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an IPX4 rating for splash resistance.

The OnePlus Open isn’t even available locally! What’s the point of promoting a product we can’t easily buy? I might as well go for the Samsung Fold, since importing the OnePlus will likely cost just as much, if not more, and it won’t come with a warranty or after-sales service.
