Ookla June 2023: PH internet at 26.98 Mbps (mobile), 92.84 Mbps (broadband)

Smart is the fastest mobile operator in the Philippines according to the latest Q2 Internet Performance Report of Speedtest by Ookla.

During the second quarter of 2023, the Smart delivered a median download speed of 35.39 Mbps. In contrast, other telco players lag significantly behind, with Globe at 22.68 Mbps and DITO at 19.69 Mbps.

The report further notes that Apple devices had experienced the fastest median download speed sitting at 47.01 Mbps. Samsung (33.24 Mbps) came in second and Xiaomi (29.06 Mbps) at third.

Meanwhile, there is no clear winner in terms of the fastest phones with the fastest internet speeds. The iPhone 14 Pro Max and the Galaxy S23 Ultra have nearly identical connectivity performance, with speeds of 89.31 Mbps and 88.16 Mbps, respectively—both at 49ms latency.

In the same report, the country’s fixed broadband and mobile download speeds for June 2023 slightly increased as compared to April.

The fixed mobile speed slightly rose to 26.98 Mbps from 25.84 Mbps. While the fixed broadband also increased a bit from 91.62Mbps to 92.84 Mbps.

In terms of global performance, the Philippines dipped on both categories, now ranking 83rd on fixed mobile among 140 countries. And 47th on fixed broadband out of 180 countries.

The United Arab Emirates and Singapore still reign on their respective thrones with the former achieving 200.24 Mbps in fixed mobile, and the latter with 247.29 Mbps fixed broadband speeds.
