The Russian government is now set to unblock torrent sites to make it easier for their citizens to pirate content. As reported in media outlets, Russia is allowing companies to use IP from companies located in other countries without paying. This will allow Russian citizens to pirate movies, games, and the like without any legal repercussions.

“The possibility of lifting restrictions on the use of intellectual property contained in certain goods, the supply of which to Russia is limited, is being considered,” said the Russian Ministry. “This will smooth out the impact on the market of breaks in supply chains, as well as the shortage of goods and services that arose due to new sanctions by Western countries.”
According to local Russian media outlet City A.M. The government has announced that Russian companies have no obligation to pay patent holders for the use of intellectual property, paving the way for legalized piracy in the country.

Russian newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta also reports that torrent trackers such as RuTracker will be unblocked so that users will be able to watch Hollywood films.
This move comes after multiple media outlets, gaming, and entertainment companies have suspended sales and services in Russia.
